5 proofs for the quran’s divinity. PT. 1

Assalamualaikum dearest readers!
Welcome back to another post on the truth of islam blog.
Since I’m done with college, and alhamdulillah for that, this blog will most likely become much more active, with a variety of posts relating to several different topics, so stick around for them.
Anyway, let’s get into the arroz y frijoles of this post, the 5 proofs for Quran’s divinity from science!
Introduction:
Its very much possible, that upon reading my past and future posts about the bible, Christians will say, why do you spend all your time attacking the bible. Why don’t you give proofs for your religion rather than attack ours? So, I am here to do just that.
In this post, we will attempt to prove that the quran revealed scientific information to the prophet peace be upon him that could not have been known during his time, and was discovered centuries later. Please note that these are not the only scientific miracles in the quran, nor is it the only way to prove the Quran’s divinity. Expect parts 2 and 3 on history and prophecy.
With that said, let’s begin!
1. Everything created from water?
The quran states in chapter 21, verse 30.
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing?
Several things of note here. The first is that the quran states that water was used to create every living thing. We know now, that cells are composed of about 70 percent water, making this description more than accurate. The discovery that humans are approximately 70% water is attributed to Antoine Lavoisier, a French chemist and biologist who worked in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, hundreds of years after the quran was revealed. Another layer of depth to this miracle has to do with the environment of revelation. The prophet and his companions lived in the desert of Arabia, a place where water is more than scarce. In that environment, how can one ever claim that everything is made from water, when you bairly see it?
This begs the question, how could any man have known this. But wait, we’re not done!
2. forlock?
Allah almighty states in chapter 96,
15. No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
16. A deceitful, sinful forelock.
Note, this is talking about Abū Jahl, an enemy of islam and someone who used to insult the prophet peace be upon him. But why the mention of forlock here?
Early commentators stated that the forlock is referenced because Abū Jahl used to take good care of it, and it was an utter humiliation for any arab to have it seized by someone else. However, scientific facts give us a brighter understanding of the mention of the term forlock, and why Allah says, a lying or sinning forlock.
Mans brain contains the following lobes.
Frontal, occipital, temporal, and parietal. Each lobe has a particular function, complementary to the other body functions. The closest lobe to the forehead, or forlock, is the frontal lobe. The frontal lobe also has sections responsible for several different things, but the one just behind the forhead and under the forlock is known as the pre-frontal cortex.
What does the pre-frontal cortex do? Its responsible for man’s character and behavior such as his propensity towards truthfulness and lying, right and wrong, and distinguishes among each of these characteristics, so much so that even people who have taken damage to their frontal lobe will all of a sudden start committing evil deeds. The frontal lobe of the brain is considered the center for the initiative to lie, and evil actions are also planned there.
The miracle in the above Qur’ānic verse is that it refers very accurately to the frontal lobe, lying deep at man’s forelock, as being the decision centre to control man’s actions of truthfulness, lying, right, wrong, balance or perversion. This was only revealed by modern scientific studies in the second half of the twentieth century.
3. Coping at high altitudes?
Allah states in this verse in chapter 6
125. Those whom Allah desires to guide, He expands their chest to Islam; those whom He leaves straying, He makes their chest narrow, tight, as if they had to climb up to the skies.
We know that the effects of traveling at high altitudes are caused by 2 main things. First, less oxygen, and second, a decrease in air pressure.
This quran verse is scientifically accurate in 2 ways.
First, the idea that we could even climb up to the skies, or space, was viewed as an imaginary concept. However, technological enhancements have made space travel more possible than ever.
Second, the effect given for those who have to climb up to the skies is very accurate. Traversing high altitudes causes chest tightness and a feeling of suffocation the more the ascension increases.
4. Embriology?
Allah almighty speaks a lot on embryology and human creation. To be honest, I can do 5 proofs from embryological development, but I’ll highlight 1 of them.
In chapter 32, Allah almighty states.
7. He who perfected everything He created, and originated the creation of man from clay.
8. Then made his reproduction from an extract of an insignificant fluid.
The word used in verse 8 is sulālah. The meaning of this word is extract’, in other words the essential or best part of a whole. How is this a scientific miracle? We know now from science that over 500-600 million sperm cells enter the vagina to the uterine cervix, but only 1 sperm is able to fertalize the woman’s ovum. So, the quran stating that we are all created from the best part of a whole is entirely accurate scientifically.
5. Pain in the skinn?
For many centuries, it was believed that the whole body is sensative to pain, but it was only recently discovered that there are nerves in the skin that transmit the sensation of pain. However, Allah almighty says in chapter 4
56. Those who reject Our signs, We shall cast into the Fire; as often as their skins are roasted through. We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty; for Allah is Exalted in power; Wise.
Note that Allah never says, as often as the skins are burned, but rather, as often as the skins are roasted through. But why does he make this distinction?
We know that there are 3 levels of severity for burns. The first degree, which is the least severe, the second degree, which is a bit more severe, and the third degree, the most severe. If someone gets a third degree burn, their whole skin thickness is burned, and its even possible that the injury extends to the muscles and bones. The injured person won’t feel any pain in this case, since the nerves have almost been completely damaged because of the burning.
This is why. Since burning can be partial, Allah makes the distinction between burned, and roasted through. The skin being roasted through means that the person undergoing the punishment won’t feel any of the pain, since all of their nerves have been irreparably damaged. However, Allah promises that when the skins of the people in hell are roasted through, he will provide them with fresh skins so that they can continue to suffer. This was only discovered recently, and yet it was revealed over 1400 years ago.
Conclusion:
After studying some of the Quran’s scientific claims, we must ask ourselves. How is it possible that a man, in the 7th century, who was illiterate, could know all this information? He never went to school, and yet his revelation not only changed the course of history, but stated scientific facts that weren’t known until over 1000 years later. The simple anser is, its not. The quran is a revelation from Allah almighty, the all knowing creator of the heavens and the earth, and these verses, and many more, prove this without a doubt.
